note to self.

1) try NOT to rely on directories of buses at bus stops.

after training in kallang, tina and i wanted to take 608 to bedok. according to the directory, we were on the correct side of the road. turns out, we went the opposite direction and ended up at tanjong pagar mrt station. she ended up telling me about their horrifying yet fun time in japan last year. (think mt fuji.)

2) there is NO point in meeting at 0800 for a project when everyone is still asleep.

according to navi, inspiration strikes at 0900. fat hope. obviously that was bogus but somehow sleep did start receding around that time. three days passed and no evacuation plan. three feasible structures though. congratulations guys, we did what we expected close to twentyfour hours after we struck our agreement.

3) self-delusion in healthy doses really does seem to maintain one's hapiness.

go dr darren on that one. haha. though i still insist that you are far more self-delusional than me. (not that you'd bother reading the words of unworthy people like me anyway, aye.)

4) smile no matter what.

that is self-explanatory. duh (:

ah well. we will end up doing work. we were just too sleepy today. yeah, right, jo, keep telling yourself that. then again, have faith in your team (:

training was alright. a blister on my thumb. hurting waist and thighs. nothing new. after all, i haven't done much physical training in a really long time =/

a tribute.

had some farewell for ms fong at east coast park today (:

haha. sesil, le-anne and fanglin baked a cake for her on behalf of the class while some of the guys were in charge of bringing food. thankfully that didn't require all of them to actually prepare food themselves. heh.

albeit not on time, for once, the whole class turned up. all 28 of them. that in itself already is a feat. lalala. we ended up entertaining ourselves while waiting for ms fong this morning. the guys were playing soccer while the girls played "i never" with pepsi twist light. gag.

when ms fong finally came, everyone sort of lined up to welcome her. guess she was really touched that we made an effort to prepare something for her. she enjoyed the cake too. well done, girls!

well, ms fong still talked to some of us regarding our results. sigh. she was like asking sesil and me what happened to us for the exams. shame. not that we can change our results now but it was kinda sad. after that she moved on to the guys and was drilling into them how they should work harder and focus more, especially edward. hmmm. see the trend? well, who cares anyway.

after some time we did get kind of bored and decided to dunk joel. always the first target seeing his size and all. hahaha. helped nicole and the guys. some of the guys wanted to dunk me next but after i ran some of them gave up. john, jonathan and joel still tried to dunk me but after they caught me, i kinda escaped. besides, was too far away from the water already for them to waste their energy. heh.

instead they moved on to couples. hahaha. the girls dunked wenqian while the guys dunked ivan. then nicole and desmond. wahaha. followed by le-anne and john. too bad fang couldn't be dunked. heh. as for fongsun, she's kinda scared of the sea, so they just made her walk into the sea while holding david's hand. hope she's alright though since she really did seem scared of the water. helped her out though, before she could completely go under.

ultimately, everyone got dunked though. well, except cough fang. the guys dunked me when they pretended that they wanted to get yinghua and jonathan dunked. hmph. carried jonathan towards the water but walked past me and before i knew what was happening, they dropped jonathan beside me and caught me instead. rah. couldn't escape at that point anymore. carried by five guys with two or three walking beside us to make sure i couldn't run.

the best thing is that all i had was one shirt to change. not that the guys would've cared much anyway. then again, the girls did dunk le-anne too who only had a shirt to change as well. guess, we learned an important lesson today: not planning to get wet doesn't necessarily mean it'll work out that way. for instance, we both made a point of asking the girls not to dunk me and i got dunked by the guys.

after ms fong left, we continued playing around in the sea. some of them ended up throwing sand at each other which kinda broke up in a sand battle between the guys and the girls. it was quite funny to witness.

oh yeah, thanks to leonard, i managed to skip a stone on the water successfully for the first time! (: whee. was really happy when i managed it.

well, it was a really touching sight today. the time when ms fong had to return to school, that is. she actually hugged every single one of the girls and shook every single guy's hand. it was really sweet. she obviously told some of us how we could improve in our studies if only we were to focus and that there definitely is room for improvement for all of us. she's a teacher after all. yep.

le-anne kinda cried and fang was tearing. wenqian told them to stop crying before they would affect me too. yeah, well, no matter how much or little each of us showed it, i'm sure ms fong has impacted our lives in some way or another. even if we can't imagine it, we're bound to miss her at some point in time at least.

gah.

mrs chan, our principal will be leaving vjc for a higher post at the moe. there was farewell assembly for her in the performance theatre today. the song the teachers came up with was rather entertaining, yet touching in terms of lyrics. haha.

well, mr koh, our ip head, will be leaving next year too for yet another (higher) post at the moe. mrs chan officially announced it during assembly on wednesday. granted, there were rumours going around but now it's official. hope there will be minimal changes. he is an amazing teacher though, so a lot of us will be missing him next year.

ms fong, our form teacher will be leaving next year as well. she'll be taking a year of no pay leave to take care of her sons who have been falling sick rather frequently this year. according to her, our new form teacher will be male. they have already pre-decisions but not a final one up to date yet.

on a happier note (and somewhat dumb), what does one get when they take an empty snapple bottle, remove the label, then fill it with a mixture of pond/sea water, sand, stones and a sheet of paper on which it is written "save me!"?

the item for each group with the combination of physics & social studies for indieventure. wasn't too pleased when the groupings were released but now i find myself looking forward to it.
